Lost and Found

60 pounds of marijuana found along Florida highway by poilce.
There is probably some state code that requires police to inform the public if something is found that is over $x in value, because they’ve provided the phone number to call if the owner wishes to claim their property. Of course, they don’t say what will happen next.

Perhaps it was intended to be part of somebody’s Christmas Present?

I’m guessing the bit about asking whoever lost it to call is a sign that somebody in the public affairs office has a sense of humor. But I can’t help wondering how many knuckleheads are going to try claiming it.

The “lost property” regulations probably required the posting of the notice — even though, in this case, it would seem to be a cruel form of amusement, or even an inadvertent entrapment scheme for fools.

Now, if the latter were the case, could one not establish that the fool was “mentally defective” and thus get a fool-proof “not guilty by reason of insanity” defense?

The date-time stamps on the preceding midrashis remind me of why I have always found the rule about 12:00 am (and 12 pm) confusing — the intersection of two different systems, leading to the case that the earlier time seems to be later than the later one — as in the simple, but wrong idea that 12:57, being larger than (aka >), would come after 11:04.

Decimalized dates — star-dates — would make better sense, if uniformly implemented.

As for quaint quantities of time, like post sunset 4 Kislev? Well, Happy Hannukah!!!
