It’s been a few months since April, but stuck for a poem to write, I went back to Flickr’s The Commons.

Origins

The caption tells us the young boy
in cowboy hat is Floridian.
There are no cows in the picture,
though there is a Sicilian donkey.

Mental images involving pizza and gangsters,
however inappropriate, come to mind.

The caption says nothing concerning
the origins of the dog, suggesting
unknown parentage, or lack of interest
in canine genealogy.
